Castle
I can't knock the suggestions already given but have you considered doing it yourself? Slow Rust Bluing give a great finish (not the same as 'cold blue' from a bottle). While it is indeed slow, it is suprisingly easy to do and very cost effective. Especially as this is a spare barrel, you seem to have little to lose except some time in the evenings. If you do not like it when it is done then you can always give it to a professional afterwards? I had a go on a set of barrels and got from this... Edited September 4, 2015 by Castle

Romes
NICE! Really nice finish on that - well done. How do you go about doing it?
Castle
Thanks, I keep meaning to write it up with some photos but never get round to doing it. I will do it in full and link it here eventually, but in short: Strip the old blue Apply bluing solution Let it rust for 24hrs Boil it in water Wire wool the rust off Repeat x 7 Took a while to get it finished but even for a muppet like me it wasn't hard. sishyplops
Wow that's stunning, it would be great if you could do a write up with shaft products you used. I would be happy to give that a go as the cost of professional re-bluing is a bit much on a barrel that cost me £50. Thanks for all input guys

Old Boggy
What bluing solution are you using and where did you get it from? Eagerly await the response as I have a set of barrels that I would like to do myself and if I could get anywhere near that finish would be well pleased. Castle
I used Blackley & Sons Slow Blue Solution from their website (linked HERE). Came with good instructions and there was more than enough in a bottle to do a set of SxS. I spilt most of it by mistake or else it would have been sufficient to do two sets of barrels. a303
Excellent finish, been looking for rust bluing solution for ages. Just ordered some. Plan on restoring my browning BPS and a old Italian sidelock SBS I have. Fingers crossed my finish comes out half as nice as yours.
Castle
Gentlemen, I promised a write up of this. It only took me two years to get round to it. It is in the Craft & DIY section: https://forums.pigeonwatch.co.uk/forums/topic/356906-shotgun-refurb-blue-the-barrels-fix-the-action-repair-the-stock/page-2?do=findComment&comment=3260353 Hopefully this gives people enough confidence to give it a go themselves.
