Medalist OR Lanber

Whatever fits you best mate. Everything else is secondary. This topic has come up before and i've looked into it too. Neither gun has a bad reputation has far as i can tell.

Get into a gun shop and try them both on for size. Go with whatever one feels right to you.

browning medalists aren't actuallly made by browning but by fias or sabbatti i beleive i have had one and they are reasonably good guns on a par with lanber. i would try both and get what feels right. for the same price of a new lanber you could get a s/h browning 425 or beretta 686. might be worth a look

bit of good advise here.

a second hand beretta is a better gun than medalist or lanber. i have had both.

the quality is built into the gun on any beretta.

Why those 2 in particular?

There are dozens of guns around their price bracket. My choice out of them would be a Lanber, although in that price range it would be a Winchester Select.

:drinks: i have a winchester select sporting very good gun reliable and imo as good if not better than lanber and medalist B)

I bought a Medallist 14yrs ago for game and pigeons and it has never let me down . It has needed no new parts and had 1000s of shells through it. At about the same time a mate bought a lanber , he had alot of bother with the safety catch and got rid of it a couple of years later.

If you can afford something better then go for it , but if you want a cheap knock about a Medallist would be a good choice.

I had the FIAS version of the medallist & the front stock developed 2 small splits in it, so something to look out for if you get a second hand gun. Another place to look out for is near the safety catch. Apparently these are quite common areas for faults.

Has no one mentioned the Bettinsoli Diamonds yet? I hear they are pretty good and around the same price range. Just another option to consider.

Plus with some Betti models you get the profile pad system, makes it a bit easier to get a good fit off the shelf.

personally i would be tempted to look out for a second hand browning, miroku or winchester.

The medalist is known to split ejectors, althought i know a few people that still shoot their guns like this.

The lanber, although i liked mine, i wouldnt have liked to have paid alot more than i did for mine. Good gun...... for the money. You will keep it for a year or two and then buy a beretta or browning.

Browning/miroku/winchester, prooved makes, they hold their value, but for a reason, you could pick a good one up for 650, or a new miroku for 800. Only thing: pitt bottom firing pin and chambers have a nasty habbit of turning orange. However would always buy these over a beretta for my own reasons.

bettolsi or how ever you spell it, i believe had some problems resulting in double dettination and even in some cases the gun opening when it wasnt wanted? And i would put in much the same catagory as the lanber.
