DaveyTed
Look on fleabay for Promatics. If you're tempted by GKD prices I suggest you read some of posts on this site and elsewhere regarding their quality and customer service. welshwarrior
Acorn traps are very good for a budget trap and are more reliable than the GDK rubbish.
ajh
Depends what you want the machine for? Some serious practice for your weekend competitions or something to chuck a clay in the air? If you want a competition grade machine you want a Laporte, Bowman or Promatic. If you want something functional and reliable below that you want a Bidwell or Acorn. Certain imported "brands" aren't worth touching with a bargepole - they're cheap for a reason. Ebay can be a good source of second hand machines, but make sure you get a good one. I know plenty of people who have bought one then found it needed a major overhaul costing hundreds due to the previous owners lack of maintenance, or finding it was butchered with non-manufacturer parts because they were too tight to buy the proper parts. stubby
unlike davey,, I'd say to look at the GKD ones, never had a spot of trouble with mine, if you phone them up via the ebay sales, you can get better prices or deals, mine came with a free remote control and compared to another plot holders trap that cost 3 times as much, mine never broke a clay, but his broke loads and this one, at the end of the video, my gdk is on the other side of pond, but remote control worked flawlessly
johnphilip
I am with Stubby here i have had my GDK trap for over two year.it is ideal as its not used to much maybe once every two weeks. I just bought the Wabble kit for it, makes it even more fun. As others have said how often do you want to use it.its not a pro machine and its not aimed at the pro market, spending £400 on a well used pro machine secondhand, maybe a good thing or maybe not. Good luck with what ever you buy,
