thomasbeaton
Hi guys, does anybody reload 16 bore? I have never reloaded but recently got a aya #3 in 16 flavour but not seeing any 5's or 4's factory loads, so decided I will by a lee load all for the 16b in the new year. Problem is I don't no what I'm doing really, can you's recommend a recipe for 5's and 4's and would like to do a light 6's load for Mrs. Also can I just keep my eley Grand Prix cases and fiocchi cases or do I need to buy new cases. Cheers. T.

thomasbeaton
Yer just that the 4's are over £400 a thousand! I thought if I start reloading I'd save about a third on the average price, plus something to do on them rainy days

wigeon jim
If your going to reload 16 bore clay and game have very very cheap wads, I use a lee load for some off my 16g 65mm crimped cases, but by far the best is get some new cases and use a RTO with a flang disc, Jim. roughshooter
I load 16 bore and use a Lee load all for them and also a RTO. I generally prefer the rto to be fair as I use new cases. I have plenty of data here if you need some to load between 21g and 36g into the 16 bore. I also load 24g steel loads that do 1550 fps. The 16 is a very versatile gun and patterns superbly Graham

The 16 is a very versatile gun and patterns superbly Graham Hi Graham, Would you be willing to share the data with another new convert to the 16 gauge? I bought a cheap Baikal a couple of months ago and I get on with it so well that nothing else has really come out of the cabinet since. As you observe, it shares that common feature of 16's and patterns superbly - nominal ½ and ¾ chokes actually throw full / extra full and the evenness of the pattern at all ranges is very good. I bought a slab of Gamebore cartridges when I got the gun, but they're fast running out and I always intended it to be my route into shotgun reloading. If you were willing to share some recipes, I'd be very grateful. Something to duplicate the (23-year-old) cartridges I've got now would be great - 28g / #6 or #6½ / 70mm case / fibre would be ideal, though any others you can specify will also be received with interest. Many thanks for your consideration, Adam.
