rimfire4969
My mum has a terrier which stinks. Been to the vet and they can find nothing wrong. It's only been bad starting about 3 months ago. If she is bathed by the morning she stinks again. Any thoughts?
felly100
What smells?Bum,breath, coat?
loriusgarrulus
In humans it can be caused by a zinc deficiency. Don't know if this can affect dogs the same way
JDog
Bad teeth may be the cause.
bigbird
Has she been spayed?
rimfire4969
Yes she has been spayed, not teeth, breath or bum. The smell comes from her coat, if she is in the same room as me I have to put her out. The thought was she was rolling in something unseen in my mums large garden. But with my folks on holiday I had her at mine for 2 weeks and it was no different.
bigbird
My mum's springer bitch started to smell appalling after she had been spayed, a hormonal thing they reckon
loriusgarrulus
If it's hormonal they can prescribe hormone tablets to counteract some things. One of Dad's setter bitches developed a terrible wooley coat after spaying and also spay incontinence. Hormone tablets reduced the incontinence and her coat improved tremendously. Worth asking at the vets.

rimfire4969
been working in a house this week and the dog hummed and was lethargic with bad skin as well, recommended they change the dog food as it was fed on bakers dog food from Tesco and looked like it was having an allergic reaction have seen this in the past as my old dog had bad guts xtra doggy smell changed food to gluten free problem solved in a matter of a week or two may be worth a try A good point, my mum has changed her food twice now and is on quailty food. Her coat is thick and nice apart from the stink. Got another appointment at the vets later this week, the smell is beyond a joke. I have told my Mum not to bath her until she goes so she is honking.
