Underdog
Old Tia does not get out much anymore so this morning I took her out for a blow. Tia and Jess worked rabbits aplomb, Jess had a couple of good chances but she is young. Eventually old Tia lifted a cock bird, it was too close for a modern gun so I hesitated, fatal mistake. A leg on the bird momentarily dropped! I watched it go for a thousand yards and land in some thick black thorn, "come on girls, lets go see" I said. When we got there my old spaniel started to hunt a sent and out popped the same cock bird reluctant to run I must add, however it lifted easily on the wind. Too close again but this time I swung onto its head and that was that. After the retrieve and much fussing and cuddles we took a photo, got the dogs hosed off and headed back for breakie. On a side note, I only single shot the double and felt a flintlock or 410 would of been just as good this outing! U.

sitsinhedges
OK now, got use to it. The hushpower helped in her training for that. I need another dog and I've always been a lurcher man previously but I know they can be variable in retrieving instinct and hard to call off anything that bolts as well as feel the cold so it looks like it has got to be a Lab this time. Shame really as lurchers are cracking pets.

If I want her close to me I make hiss sound and she returns and then clip a lead on her that is tied to my coat.I tried her on a couple of lamped rabbit last week and there is hope!
