the only thing id swap my mod 2 for is another one with a shorter barrel, as apart from the fact its a bit long to comfortably use in the truck its does everything i need from a .22 :good:

Get it chopped! You wont regret it.

To the OP, personally I'd stick with the one you've got. Mine will head shoot bunnies out to 80+ yards if I do my bit, usually by holding over. I've never felt the need to push it out to a 100, but each to their own.

was going to do that but the prices i was getting for cutting it down, re-crown and screw cutting was a fair bit more than the cost of another s/h rifle already done !!!

i neatly sidestepped the issue by buying one of these for truck lamping...........

(not my gun but mines exactly the same)

i know most folk hate stuff like that ^^ (it'l be alot safer and more comforting if/when i paint it orange ;) ) but after the mod2 it seems only about 4" long, pointable like you wouldnt believe and is just perfect for the truck, and its pretty accurate too !!!!!

I wouldn't swap my mod2 for a 455 452 nothing in it.

You've seen my mod 2 nicely shortened, with the right ammo shoots tight groups at 50 yards (but can't often get the right ammo now). But I'm not to bothered about groups but head shooting rabbits which it does. Would I change it no, would I have another 22 yes I would but that's a pretty project I'm planning!!!

I would not swap my 452 .22 for anything. Its served me well for nearly 10yrs. Its a 16" barrel . The barrel or mod has never been cleaned only the breech/chamber has been cleaned

as i had a few spent cases that did not eject. I stripped the bolt down and cleaned that too. Its been a peach of a gun. Shoots spot on every time i use it.

Perhaps i should clean the barrel out but as they say, if it aint broke.

Try different ammo if you haven't already. Mine was particularly fond of Winchester subs and absolutely useless with Eley subs.

I have given mine to my son and replaced it with a CZ Scout. Wouldn't say it was better but it is shorter until i put a mod on it.

A short gun in the truck is possibly easier to move around but it is very soon obvious you are much more able to get a headshot in your own head!!

I want a 16" barrel but I can buy a 452 for less than the chop after selling mine.

Oh and I hate the 15mm grooves for mounts. It needs adaptors which lift the scope to much.

Tried all ammo and managed 3/4" groups at 60 yards with eley but at 100 it opens up.

My hmr is 16" and I love it in the van but know what you mean on the head bit

Norman Clark Gunsmiths isn't too far from you in Rugby..

Great reputation, and I've always found them very helpful, and reasonably priced.

I'm in the process of "testing" some match ammo, to see if I can push my CZ 452 Silhouette .22lr out to 100 yards accurately, before buying a .22 WMR. I've bought some RWS, and Eley Match ammo. If the weather ever improves i'd try it out....
