Underdog
How come they have been built around a Savage rifle??? Surely 17hmr is just that!? Confused all over again .

colin lad
Well at least at last they have put some more powder in the case! Now do the same for wmr like the good old days! now that would be good to get a 30g round somewhere near hmr velocities
Underdog
I remember when 40grn wmr were just over 2000fps and 30cci maxi +v were around 2200fps. Not any more. Ridiculous.
malkiserow
now that would be good to get a 30g round somewhere near hmr velocities called a .222 ?
colin lad
called a .222 ? i hope my .222 is going slightly faster than that even with 50g vmax colin I remember when 40grn wmr were just over 2000fps and 30cci maxi +v were around 2200fps. Not any more. Ridiculous. was looking at putting in for wmr on the ground that you can get 2k plus fps rounds are they not making them any more
Underdog
They seem to be just under 2000 these days. Henry Kranks seem to have oldish stocks of CCI and they seem quick. Quicker than Hornady v Max anyway and some Remington loadings! I preference the 40grns myself but just lately the bullets are tough. Wish I could get the old Winchester soft points 😞
bazzab
Perfect. My hmr is a Savage
markg
Is the consistency, of 17hmr ammo, any better these days? Still the squibs etc? not had hmr for few years now
kennett
I use Federal, and through my cz they are superb. Easily sub inch at 100yds, no squibs, no obvious signs of case failure. And they kill stuff very well!
matth12321
The Savage A 17 is semi-auto, the americans have given it some pretty bad reviews saying it doesn't cycle very well... so I'm guessing rather than fix the issue they have bought out an ammo that does cycle... masmiffy
Always thought CCI loaded most of the HMR ammo available?I did speak with Hornaday in USA after I had a 'blow out' and they pretty much confirmed it.They also confirmed there is no difference between blue or red tips its just the colorant used in the polymer
matth12321
Fairly sure CCI are part of ATK... Its unlikely you'll find any factory ammo, thats made in the US, that doesn't have at least one part made by them or hasn't been put together by them... The HMR has some huge design issues that Hornady know about which is why the HM2 came about...
