trevor
tikkamark you say u keep it on 8 x mag i have a s/b 8x56 but think it might not be enough power even thought its a true 8x mag unlike some scopes.
tikkamark
yeah i know what you mean trevor sometimes you need to crank it up a little to around 10 or 12 for some long shots on the likes of a magpie or crow i wouldnt be a big fan of a fixed power scope myself it sometimes could be a bit restrictive on some shots including some of the closer shots where you dont want to be aiming at a target the size of a barn door

I tell you what fella, if you're not fussed on that scope i'll take it off your hands FOC, cos thats the kinda guy I am....i'll do anything to help out I have a Hawke Varmint 6-24x42 on mine but it does get a bit foggy out about 170+yds. I'm saving my pennies for one of the S+B 8x56 babies

Eagleman
AGS Viper 8 - 24 x 56 IR mildot. I like the option of lowish to high mag. The scope is not bad - "good enough" I would say.

DaveK
Lorraine has a Whitetail Classic 6.5 - 20 x 50 on hers and it's awesome. I can't afford a HMR as she turned the money for mine into a patio Dave
richie1606
I have a Hawk nite eye 6.5-20x50 illuminated mildot on mine and can't fault it at all.
Dave-G
I have the new 4200 elite 6-24x50 SF on my Quad. Mildots are accurate at 12x and for that reason I hunt on that mag. It's handy to have the higher mag for long distance verification sometimes though, but it's not very crisp at 24 mag.

I have the bausch and Lomb one (same spec but not mil dot) ON MY .243 and find they're just as good as the more sought after S&B and Swaro's. Trevor I see the 'force' has failed you. Seriously though, give the S&B a go it might just be ok for the ranges you intend to work at. As to the Nikko Stirling, thats the exact scope I have on my Quad. Itsa great scope for the money. Good clear optics and light gathering. The fine cross hairs and mildots are great and the IR works a treat when you loose the recticle at dusk. Its not as heavy as you would imagine but very rugged. The only downside, for me anyway, is the parallax. It works fine but if your operating shots on varying ranges whilst lamping, it can be a pain. Overall, it gets a big thumbs up from me. Peter_HMR
Have a Hawke Target 6-24x50 on its way and will be testing it out at the weekend. Personally i find i need at least a 14x scope to get sub MOA groups at 100yards but thats just me.
