Hi guys,

I'm brand new to shooting 'seriously' -- I picked up clay pigeon shooting as a bit of an 'experiment' last october, and I'm hooked! I'm shooting in mid-wales with my wife, and so far it has required the biggest storm of the winter to keep us from going out and shoot stuff!

We are currently waiting for our licences, and have been out with coaches from the shooting center so far, knowledgeable and friendly bunch!

I've tried a few guns, and finally settled on a Miroku 3800 trap as a 'first gun' and I'm slightly jealous of the Mrs, who found a fitted gun for her in a gorgeous Browning 425 20 gauge, in grade 5 -- stunning piece!

We have a bit of a long term plan of perhaps shooting pheasants next year or so, or whenever we decide we have a fair chance of making clean kills -- also, I think we'll shoot as much as we can kill, freeze, and eat for the remaining of the year. We'll see how it goes!

We also own a nice piece of woodland/wetland where I've spotted pheasants and wild ducks (so far) -- but I think we'll leave them alone for the foreseeable future; altho I could imagine us shooting pigeons, if the occasion present itself..

Hi everyone, thanks for the welcome! I'm near Rhayader/Llanidloes -- Haimwood looks quite a bit further up, but might be worth a visit too...

What about berkshire/bucks? I commute to the south quite a lot, in Burnham (bucks) -- I'm aware of E.J Churchill (sp?) near High Wycombe -- haven't visited yet; are there others around, with a friendly crowd?

Hi Terry! I see you are not far off yourself, and yes, it's Jonathan's place of course :-)

I'm based in Rhayader myself, but I pretty often come your way; do you go to Jonathan's often, or are there other clay places I haven't discovered in the area? ;-)
