johnphilip
One way i have seen it done, you will need a two pack resin. Hold coin in place with double sided tape. Wrap masking taper around antler just above the level you would need to cover coin. pour in resin to cover coin let it set. Then take of tape, you may have to tidy up resin with sand paper. I have it in one of my books on stick making.
Outlander
Thanks , I presume you mean araldite , does it come out clear if its not worked??
panoma1
Flatten the crown off with a rasp file then smooth it off, when polished (scratches removed) use an appropriately sized (diameter) forsner bit to drill centrally to the width of the coin and set it in two part epoxy (araldite)
Stimo22
Hi You need two pack clear resin that is transparent, I set coins , badges and fishing flys in some I make , you can buy it from a Hobbycraft store it is brilliant stuff, will put up some photos of the box tommorow
Lord Geordie
I find araldite goes cloudy and has small air bubbles in it when it sets, I have some stuff called ClearCoat I use for whipping eyes on rods and it sets much clearer and free of bubbles, I was going to try that and see how that went on my latest stick project, but am nowhere near completion yet! boo
Use blu-tak as mould material, works better than plasticine.....Hobbycraft way expensive, search e-bay a lot cheaper.
Stimo22
Hi, As promised I have attached a photo of how I use the resin , these are two sticks with caw horn handles. The other is of the resin that I use, I get it from Hobbycraft but as said above you can probably get from internet. They do a smaller pack at 150ml All the best with your project

Guttersnipe
Very helpful thanks, I've just done my first stick with a coin in the antler coronet but having issues with attaching it with just epoxy, i'll give the resin a go.... the cow horns look great, if not a little ambitious for my present skill level. I went with the Irish 1 punt coin in a Red coronet - cheap and readily available. Regards
