kblewett
What is a good cartridge for rough shooting and decoying? Cheers
chris1961
A lot on here use clay carts 28gram 7.5 for close range 30gram no 6s I find seem to be the best all round cartridge for me any way
dougall
12g? 28-30g 6s fair default.
casts_by_fly
28g 6's is my default for most anything. I shoot it in both the 12 and the 20. rick
Savhmr
I use 30g #6's for everything. Never saw the point for clay practice not using the exact same pattern I use for game, so 6's get used for clays too.
chris1961
My personal favorite is 29gram no6 and 7,5 mixed use them for both clays and pidgeon
NickB65
When I shoot the 12g pigeon shooting then I use 32g no. 6. The rest of the time I use my 20g and use 26g no 6 for pheasant and or 26g no 7 for clays - both the RC JK6 T3 which in my gun is awesome. I wouldn't think many people use a heavier load for pigeons than they do for pheasants.
sitsinhedges
My personal favorite is 29gram no6 and 7,5 mixed use them for both clays and pidgeon Mixing shot sizes is pointless and doesn't achieve what you think it does. chris1961
Mixing shot sizes is pointless and doesn't achieve what you think it does. Theye are only mixed because the bags split and I can't be asrsed to sort them but they still do the business so I'll just use up as is
Worsle
Interested to see ppl use 6s or even 7s (for decoying), on here. I can't get consistent performance in anything other than 32g 5s. But then I use them through a different gun to the 6s and 7s, so I think it's a choke / pattern issue. kennett
Whereas I use 6s for everything, 29g cheapies for decoying and 32g for game and roosting. Bought a slab of 5s a couple of seasons ago, shot one box and sold the rest as couldn't get on with them!!
