fenboy
I took my new pup Drake for a hours roost shooting last night. Things were a little slow but I managed half a dozen and missed a few . Drake behaved very well with no running in to falling birds so I rewarded him with a retrieve on the last bird I shot , his first proper retrieve. Still some work to do but I am confident he is going to end up a good one.

Danger-Mouse
Had he already done some work with dead birds to get used to the feathers or did you just throw him in at the deep end?
fenboy
Had he already done some work with dead birds to get used to the feathers or did you just throw him in at the deep end? He started with dummies with goose wings attached and then progressed to cold birds, so he is use to picking things up with feathers attached. This was his first retrieve on a warm bird.
