ChrisPCarter
I can't seem to find much online about which oil to use on my stocks. I've got a Miroku MK38, a Browning Maxus Premium and an old AYA No.2 I'd like to keep looking good but I don't know what I should be using. At the moment I'm just giving them a wipe over with Legia spray (the new red and green can for metal and wood) which seems OK but I'm sure I should be using some proper stock oil? Did a search on here but didn't find much info. Chris.
darren 67
I was told walnut preparation oil small amount in the palm of your hand and rub it in really well. Leave to dry then buff with a soft cloth.

ChrisPCarter
So where do I get this? Is it just stuff from a DIY shop? Edit: Just found some on eBay now I know what I'm searching for! Cheers! Edited February 27, 2016 by ChrisPCarter

welshwarrior
Use a proper stock oil that's BLO based for example trade secret stock oil. Not a fan of using walnut oil on a BLO finish never seem to penetrate as well and sits on the surface but unlike some other options at least it tends to harden
ElvisThePelvis
Trade secrets or CCL are easy to use, I prefer CCL

ChrisPCarter
So what is the original finish on these guns done with? Makes sense to use the same thing or similar at least.
das
3 parts of linseed oil and 1 part of turpentine (both artist quality from an art supply shop, not the boiled stuff from a hardware shop), takes some time but gives an excellent finish.
