secretagentmole
Servicing the ER5, need some 10w40 4T oil. Cheapest I can get near me is around £28 for 5 litres. Found a supplier in Northampton called Lubetech, 5 litres, 10w40 4T, with full additive pack, £18.99 delivered inc VAT. They do oils for outboards, 2 strokes, 4 strokes, diesel, petrol, agriculture, aviation, marine, brake fluids, ATF fluid, the works. So if you are after UK blended oils, to spec, with all the additives etc but at a nice price, try them! http://www.lubetechshop.co.uk/

figgy
Oil is another product where we get ripped off. The specifications for the oil required are all you need to look for, I looked at some online suppliers and the cost differences were vast. Good saving of a tenner mole. chady
Problem is the cost of the machine the oil is going into, It could work out expensive in the long run. Jamie

Jamie No their oil meets or exceeds specification, they also sell aviation oils and if that goes wrong that could be millions in compensation! Oil is another product where we get ripped off. Not just the saving of a tenner, I don't have to go into town, get parked etc, that price includes delivery, to the door! Saves a lot more than a tenner! TONY R
Sounds like you could have made a saving, but i run amongst other things a chopped about 1992 EN 500, i used some car plan discount oil in this bike looked great re the specs, but i got clutch slipage with this. looked into it a little more, oil needs to have no additives in its make up whatsoever, oil firms slip various additives in even the discount blends, and the wet clutch on some bikes just dont get on with anything like this. Went back to motul oil and no more problems. be carefull.
chady
Fair enough mate. It's just the name your paying for then. Go into halfords and I have got to admit I cry when it comes to the price of oil! And battery's!! No their oil meets or exceeds specification, they also sell aviation oils and if that goes wrong that could be millions in compensation! Lord Geordie
My Car uses 5w-30w fully synthetic. First batch I bought was near £40. I now have a local outlet selling it for £17 so when the service is due I shall buy the oil from there and shove an OEM filter on it! I did my bike test on the ER5 but for some reason I am not a Kawak person, Had a GPZ600R and was nothing but trouble, And the 400R was no better! Had a go of the ZXR and ZZR range but just couldn't get on with them! I went for a Honda CB500 and found it was OK, then went and got a Suzuki GSX600F and just jelled straight away? Loved the thing until I was unseated by a blind bint. Promised to never put my backside on another bike seat!
Gordon R
We use these for the Quad and RMZ 450:- http://www.smithandallan.com/products/transport-motorcycle/ Far cheaper when the oil is changed every alternate time the RMZ is used. TONY R
I am a little like you geordie not a big Kawasaki fan i had a z1B 900 back in the day and before that a 500 tripple H1E , but that was it then they left me cold. then last year i came accross this EN 500 vulcan, it was cheap and i had just sold a BMW and i had never had a cruiser before, so i got it sold 90% of it in parts andf choped the frame bobberised it, again a first for me, But i will say this about that 500 its not slow for a bike that size has 34mm carbs on it and its lost a lot of weight in the build. Its suprised me.
