Ear defenders

I just received my pair. They seem legit and work as expected (both ears work and no crackle). I'm hoping to get out for a shoot this weekend so will give them a proper test.

Blimey, that was quick. I've only just received notification of dispatch.

I am using the free postage though!

Does anyone with Howard Leigh's have any problem regarding mobile phone interference, I was reading reviews and a bloke said that his always picked up the interference noises.?? Cheers

Mine don't seem to pick up anything with my phone. Different networks run on different frequencies though so I can't say for sure it won't with on another network.

A loud squeal from mine that I received today ( no problems with the pairs I have bought previously), any ideas? I guess I could return them. They seem to be louder than the others I have...

A stab in the dark here, but the only thing I could think of would be the ear cup not seated fully and the sound from the headphone is bleeding into the mic and feeding back? I am able to induce a feedback loop with mine by doing that.

Actually *I* posted that review :-)

They do pick up phones, but really it's not too bad; and more often than not, I'll leave my phone in the car anyway while shooting so it's no problem.

And to add to the previous poster, I still haven't changed the batteries in mine, from last november (and I use them a lot!) I just keep a pair of AAA in the jacket just in case...

As a side note, I've just ordered another pair of these defenders, as a backup...

After suffering from much higher tinnitus as well as other ear problems since last Autumn I finally made it back on the clays 2 weeks ago, but made sure I was doubled up with plugs & ear muffs.

I did notice a spike in my Tinitus for a few days afterward so I have invested in new Peltor muffs as well as some heavy duty foam plugs (the biggest snr I could find on any plug). Went yesterday and still seem to be having a small spike, but I think a lot of it is in the mind...and I'm thinking too much about it. As far as I can see my hearing is as protected as possible & I've got reduced loads too...so I'll see how I get on. I am happy with my Peltor sport though 👍🏻

Note that a lot of sound vibration comes from bone conduction. In the case of guns, quite a lot of the 'noise' comes from your jaw against the stock, so perhaps your ears are nicely protected, it doesn't mean you can't 'hear' anything.

Ear and jaw are pretty much the 'same thing' -- even if the jaw is a lot less efficient, it's still tuned to certain frequencies.

So perhaps for your next shoot, try a neoprene sock around the stock or something similar...

Thanks, yes this thought had occurred to me also, I did mention this to my audiologist and she thought it unlikely to effect my Tinitus, but I think I will try something similar to your suggestion

How the dickens do you close those important business deals and buy and sell your shares then? </sarc>

Fortunately (or unfortunately depending on your mindset) there is nothing in my life so important that it cannot wait for an hour or two while I kill some clays.
