jking
Hi, (See images below) I bought a used Miroku MK38 a few weeks back and it's in great condition......apart from one thing! When viewing the gun in the shop I had assumed that the black stains/marks over the ejectors and end of the barrels was from the 100 cartridges I'd just put through it whilst trying the gun out. The marks just look like the usual powder residue you get when mixed with a little oil that had been trapped under the ejectors from the guns previous clean. But whatever I do I cannot get the marks off with Napier gun cleaner. Is there anything stronger I can use to clean these marks off? Maybe a particular polish? I'd like to get the gun back to spotless condition if I can. Cheers James Edited June 4, 2016 by jking

Saltings
00 wire wool and gun oil to lubricate a little bit of time elbow grease or 1200 wet dry with oil hope this helps
TONY R
Try aluminium foil, and and some lemmon juice, its softer than steel removes no mettal but cleans residues and even minor pits, the lemon is the best amalgamation with ally foil. Glenlivet
00 wire wool and gun oil to lubricate a little bit of time elbow grease or 1200 wet dry with oil hope this helps The problem with this is that over time it wears away the metal. It also leaves thousands of tiny iron filings in the gun which will rust.
jking
Yes, I think I'd like to try a more gentle approach first rather than sanding or scouring. Has anyone got any other suggestions in case I can't remove the stains with lemon juice and aluminium foil? I was thinking of using Brasso but not sure if this would work. subsonicnat
009 bore cleaner,Stinks but does the job,, and do clean the gun after firing as quickly as possible.. 1200 grit on those ejectors, before that gets worse as well..
steve_b_wales
Try Autosol 'Solvol' available from Halfords etc. It's very good.
blasterjudd
+1 Autosol Cleans stains and polishes in one If stubborn apply and Polish until removed.
jking
I've managed to get most of it off with autosol.....nearly there! I'm not sure if it will remove the stains that are more engrained into the metal. A friend that I shoot with suggested using a Cratex stick which is a rubber abrasive stick. I'll give this a go during the week.

jking
For reference - I ended up using a Cratex stick (rubber abrasive block) which very quickly removed the stains. I then finished it off by polishing with Autosol and have been left with an excellent finish. Thank you all for your help.
Gunman
What ever you use make sure you wash off thoroughly with paraffin /white spirit allow to dry then oil .Best done with the extractors and slides removed. Personally I have always used 600 wet and dry paper on a block or rapped around a flat file as I did when cleaning off after black .
