panoma1
Shooting representative organisations have in the past naively given the proverbial inch to placate the protectionists.....now they have come back for the mile....surprise! David BASC
its more likely to be the result / consequence of the successful robust defense of lead we have lead for the last few decades since the AEWA agreement, repeated calls for further bans and restrictions in the UK have been successively and successfully fought off. TONY R
Basc as ever vigilant in protecting our sport, i hate to think where we would be without BASC.
oowee
Latest developments on lead shot info here: https://basc.org.uk/blog/press-releases/latest-news/basc-fights-global-ban-on-lead-ammunition/ David Thx for the link David. Shooting representative organisations have in the past naively given the proverbial inch to placate the protectionists.....now they have come back for the mile....surprise! Surprise! Its no doubt a constant battle with change and what better than to have an organisation like BASC battling on our behalf. That's what we pay them for after all. fenboy
Thx for the link David. I agree , but I will wager someone will be along to disagree.
panoma1
I agree , but I will wager someone will be along to disagree. Not me! I agree, I just hope BASC continues their robust defence of lead shot!...........Because I feel they have in the past been too willing to give ground on some issues in an ultimately unsuccessful attempt to placate (buy off!) our enemies! Perhaps things have changed? "No scientific evidence no change" sounds like the right stance to me!
albifrons
I can never understand that when BASC issues statements both on forums and their web site, together with representatives who unequivocally reinforce those statements, there is a huge mistrust by some, that they are lying or have some hidden agenda. toontastic
As far as I can make out the usa is the biggest shooting market. I would imagine if their shooting organisations opposed a ban on lead it would make a global ban almost impossible, due to the strong influence gun groups have over government policy. Do BASC liase with non European shooting groups in matters such as this one. Edited June 23, 2016 by toontastic

neutron619
Very glad to see that BASC continues the fight in spite of recent difficulties. One thing has been bothering me a bit recently though - why is it "no sound evidence, no change" and not simply "no change"?
