kennett
A few people I know have older model hilux with the dual battery, which is handy for not getting a flat battery when lamping etc. However, my 14 plate has the tray for a second battery but not the battery or wiring. How hard is it, or is it even possible to convert them to run dual batteries again?
keg
No idea but our LC120 series Landcruiser has twins as well.
69chris
just wire a simple split charge relay to the 2nd battery and run any extras off that one only
walshie
My 65 plate Hilux has twin batteries, so I don't suppose it's that hard.
nevb
The twin cable set up and battery straps can be bought as a spare part from a Toyota dealer, and its a simple job to fit.....
keg
I needde to jump start another car, had to stop and think for a moment on how to attach the leads.
kennett
Ahhhhh that's what I needed to know. Cheers mate
spandit
Mine had 2 batteries but don't think they're on split charge, just wired in parallel. I'd prefer one higher capacity battery so I can fit my Eberspächer under the bonnet
kennett
No I don't think they are split charge, as you say just in parallel so hopefully not too hard to do
Mike737
This may be no help at all to your Hilux question sorry, but on my Transit the two batteries do different jobs. One is for starting and the other for ancilliaries. Mike.
walshie
On a Hilux it's called the "cold climate pack." I didn't order mine like that, but i guess they saw I live in Wales.
rodp
Toyota, so reliable they have to fit two batteries to make sure it starts in a morning
kennett
Ahhhhh Walshie I never knew that, I thought it was a just a standard Toyota thing. Cheers all I'll ring Toyota and see how many million £s they want for a bit of wire
