oldypigeonpopper
Hi all, I'm a semi professional fox controller. Been asked to control pigeons over a 500acre farm. Brought a pump action, truly s*%t so far. What could o be doing wrong, few people are saying the gun is too short, some are saying I won't be giving enough lead some are saying my cartridges are poor. Can it really make that much difference? For reference, 76 cartridges shot.....not one bird hit. P.s. I a professional rifle shooter in my real time job Craig hello, should have said welcome first

Good shot?
In a nutshell you are checking your zero.(you being a rifle shooter) or, where the gun is shooting when you mount it and fire. ie. depending where the centre of the shot pattern is in relation to the centre of the pattern plate, you may need to figure in holdover (most likely) in your point of aim when shooting. ShootingEgg
Welcome!! With the sxp you may have had parts that came with it to change lop and comb (someone correct me if those two are wrong), I got them with my sx3.

oldypigeonpopper
Not in mine, it did only cost me £350 mind hello, according to the reviews it only comes with screw in chokes so you need to check your LOP as i mentioned, the gun is only 13 3/4 inch which for most shooters is to short, also there are no spacers to add length, if you purchased new the gun shop should have checked to see if it fitted ok. it looks like you are going to need a longer pad fitted. Craig83
Ok so I tried this with both pigeon and fox cartridges. The outcome is simple....the gun is fine, the fleshy end is the problem. I think I'm just not giving enough lead. The other surprise is my fox catridges. Jees, I set up my target at 30m and shot at aiming marker and it just put a big hole in target. Inside the big oak which was behind the target was a huge hole also with a plastic wad full of BB's or similar. It was mental.
