philm
Do you mean Google Chrome? Ifso hit the three bars top right of screen, click settings, click history top left corner, delete history from beging of time>
kingo15
If you use Google Chrome, the you can use incognito mode which is doesn't save any history, which is ideal for surprise planning. Obviously once you've done above and cleaned the history
bruno22rf
Sounds more like a "suggested sites" issue to me - try I.E. - tools - advanced - somewhere should be the facility to turn off suggested sites - this problem could also be related to your "favourites" settings. old'un
Do you mean this, if so its part of Google's predictive text you can turn it off.

robbiep
What browser are you using ? A tip, don't search through BT (or other) web pages. It just means they pick up more about you, and will 'target' their advertising at you more. Just type in your search into the 'address bar' at the top of the page. John_R
Not sure about setting for BT home page, why don't you just set your home page to Google? Better yet, set your home page to blank. Also I never allow any computer, (be it Mac or Windows) nor any software to auto-fill forms, remember passwords or any similar thing. John_R
If your home page is set to blank how do you search the web? Then you enter Google or your preferred choice of search engine into the address (or bookmark Google etc.) Or, if using Firefox there is a search field, which can be set up for Google, and also for Dictionaries and all sorts via a drop-down. I've never liked any browser preloading anything I have not asked for.
Billy.
There's some deeper stuff in this that you'll want to sort out. The fact you've got BT set as your homepage, means you likely installed something which set it to this, which means you're probably not that savvy at spotting things being installed which shouldn't be. (Chrome by default doesn't set your homepage to BT) So you're going to need to download some Malware search and removal tools. As there's a high chance you've probably installed some other things on your machine. Adaware is a great and free tool for this. Next, you're using BT's homepage to browse and retrieve Google searches, which means that you're handing your ISP what you like to search for, as the query will be generated via their page and then searched on Google. This gives them room to track your searches and tailor adverts to what you look for (Notice the advert below asking about new phones to be unveiled?!) That advert showing below, tells me you haven't got Adblock installed. The dirty tricks that ads can do these days means it's very important to have some means of adblocking. You can download a number of adblocking tools via the Chrome store - Adblock Plus and Adblock are what I run simultaneously on my machine. Make sure "allow some non-intrusive adverts" is unchecked in the settings. If your home page is set to blank how do you search the web? Tap whatever you want in the top bar. It's a search bar for Google, not just a www. entry box. Edited September 2, 2016 by Billy.

John_R
So why not just have your home page set to Google and configure it to your preferences, simple? Like I said above, I've never liked any browser preloading anything I have not asked for. simple! To be honest, most of the time when I start a browser I am going directly to the site of my choice. That might be Pigeonwatch, it might be work related, but hardly ever am I going to do a search right from the bat. I would however stress the importance of doing Malware and Antivirus checks on your machine if you don't often do it. Edited September 2, 2016 by Billy. Billy.
Possibly Well I can assure you that you don't, if you don't know you can search from an address bar. You can also use it as a calculator, mail from it, search for specific terms on a website, access your history, dev tools and site debugger - but you already knew that.
