Wookie
Ok, so I was watching "Finding Nemo" with the girlfriend over tea and the TV just blew. Smell of burnt circuitry round the back and I am left thinking that it's terminal. two questions from this point on... 1) Can I claim off the house and contents insurance (I think I can) 2) What should I go for bearing in mind I am on a "New for old" policy with Direct Line. Same again? It's been a good TV (32" widescreen CRT) for the time that I have had it, but I am thinking that I might be able to screw them out of a new LCD. Advice, comments and abuse/**** taking welcome (like I should know any different!)
Mungler
"I was watching "Finding Nemo" with the girlfriend" I do hope that isn't a euphemism. You want to be watching "hiding big Nemo"

LEFTY478
Insurance generally won't pay out for a failed product, unless tragically, a member of your family tripped whilst carrying a goldfish bowl and poured water over it.
lurcherboy
If you have accidenatal I think you are. My Zanussi fridge freezer went tits up on Sturday night. I didn't buy the outrageous fee from Comet when I bought it, but, my household insurance cover it I didn't understand how but when the rottie called them they said it was covered as it had 'blown up' They are also paying for the lost contents but how the hell do I produce reciepts for the large amount of Hare and Venison that was stored in it The Curs ate better than I did for 2 days LB
BSA Shaun
Time you changed your living room round and accidently dropped the tv. You thought it would be ok so plugged it in and turned it on and BAM

Wookie
*****. Maybe I'm just too honest, but I said about the moving it bit and they have said that electrical/mechanical faults are not covered. So, it looks like I'm in the market for a new TV. Thinking LCD and, as I know nothing about TVs apart from how they work (well, the principle of it - lots of little creatures inside painting pictures on glass very quickly), I could do with some help. Come on people! Help me out!

pin
Whatever you do find the one you want and then get John Lewis to price match it (free 5 year guarantee). Have a look on here for some decent advice on the best for your budget.
dunganick
john lewis is a pain in the **** at the moment, people keeping on asking me to price match to them with our 5 year product cover, and it forces me to give massive discounts everytime
pin
Sorry young nick, but if they can do it, so can everyone else  Given the option of 5 years warranty free, or an expensive paid for 5 year cover, the clever money goes to John Lewis. Not sure how they afford it, but they do

Not sure how they afford it, but they do  i believe they use a differnt cover plan company to us, We can match their price but my sales keep on getting flagged as low proffit margin sales, getting an ear full from the managers. deffinatly the company to go with at the moment. btw at the moment you can get a previous model philips 26 for 450, prob significantly cheaper from an ebat shop. would be my choice for a 26, even though i dont mate philips
