TIGHTCHOKE
Tell the hire company to replace it!
Duckandswing
Ring them first thing and get them to change it. Nobody should pay good money and be subject to that.

Old farrier
Photograph all 4 corners and any dent or scratches also check spare wheel and jack if it's delivered smelling of smoke who knows what else they'll bill you for when it goes back ☹️️ Maybe worthwhile checking to see if it's full of fuel not chip oil or red diesel 😗 Sorry bad experience with hire motors 😡 Hope you get it sorted All the best Of
norfolk dumpling
I work part-time for a rental vehicle and 95%+ of our vehicles are kept smoke free but when we do collect one which has clearly been used as an ash tray we charge the hirer for a valet which includes a refresh but this does not always completely remove the odour. What is left isn't damaging although it is slightly unpleasant for non-smokers and we will re-hire vehicle and hope it isn't refused. Most of our hirings are to companies so it is difficult to pin down the culprit. We do sticker the cars/vans but this is impossible to eradicate completely.
