PeterHenry
Hi all, I've recently brought a second hand Baikal to use as a gun for pigeon decoying and ducks. Today was the first time I have taken it out, and when I was cleaning it I came across these two black spots in one of the barrels that wont move whatever I try. Any idea what they are? I'm not too bothered about them - the reason I got the gun in the first place was so that I didn't have to worry about it too much - I am however slightly puzzled by them. So far I have tried various brass wire brushes, leaving a patch soaked in 009 over it or an hour, general elbow grease etc... Useless photo I know, but its not the easiest thing to photograph - you can just about make out what I'm going on about though. Any help would be greatly appriciated
GingerCat
Bit of burnt on powder or plastic. Wouldn't worry. Wd40 may shift it. Or a chamber brush.
Highlandladdie
As above ^^ probably. Have you tried a jag, and kitchen roll, make it an uber tight fit see if that shifts it. If not, when I have a really hard fouling, I soak the area for, say the length of time it takes for a cup of tea, take a phosphor bronze brush on a rod (3 section ones are the best so you have as little rod as necessary), put it in a battery drill and on a low speed. Then give it darn good brushing. A couple of minutes with this and they are clean as a whistle.
Gordon R
Stand the barrels upright in the sink, on a rag to block up one end and fill them with boiling water. Be careful - goes without saying. It normally shifts just about anything.
fortune
I can't actually make out what or where the offending marks are. Look at it this way, it they are pits then they are there. If they are stain spots they don't matter. Whichever they are don't worry about it. Get some cartridges and put some lead up them barrels and enjoy using it. I've got an old AyA #4 that has got a few pits in both barrels. I don't even give them a thought. It doesn't make any difference to the way it shoots and there is no way that it would be economical to do anything about it.
buze
I had that in my Guerini some weeks ago, it was (as mentioned before) burned plastic. And nope, brushing/cleaning didnt remove them, only more shooting did! I suppose you could heat the barrels, but I would only worry if it's still there after your next shoot... deeksofdoom
I wouldn't worry about them as the lads said, just enjoy the gun.

Albert 888
As gorden r says hot water. I didn't believe it at first so tried it and it does work,I was a great believer in the chamber brush, wd40 and a battery drill. Mine gets a coating at the end of the chamber with fibre wad and is mostly lead build up and my auto does similar with Plas wads.
