Tritium shotgun night sight

Any of you used one of the tritium glow in the dark front bead sights yet. Been looking online for a brass bead for a Beretta game gun as it had sheared off. Initially I wasn't going to bother fitting a new bead until I shot floodlit clays and couldn't see where the barrel was at all with no bead against a black sky.

Seeing the tritium sights got me thinking it would be good on my benelli for fowling in very low light, they have a white circle spot with the tritium in the centre so you can see white in daylight and a green dot in the dark.

I've used a Isotope Glued instead of a bead for 40 odd years . Just right on cloud less nights Moon Flighting. If you google search I bought for a couple of quid illuminated plastic keyring with crystals in side . Sealed a quick release lead clip system for carp fishing put some crystal from keyring sealed screwed that in place of front bead saved me a lot of money.

The Tritium Beads are very good but to pricey for my pocket also you can't get them posted from abroad.

Similar to above, took tritium tube out of a keyring and also latterly a carp float marker and put inside a bit of hollow FM aerial to protect it, glued that into bead fitting (after taking normal red plastic out), great for roost shooting crows and flighting duck.

Green dot appears about twice as bright in photo (as pitch black and camera compensated slightly) as it does when at end of the barrel.

Went for some gardiner max beta lights 2mm by 6mm ones in green two pack just in case i break one. Now to order a front bead in right size to drill a hole in to glue my beta light in to.

Be careful with them Figgy they Pope like light Bulbs the last ones i used i put them in a hard plastic sleeve and still they broke

I took my sight off and shoot just by looking at the bird. In Africa we were shooting duck in total darkness against the sky. If the mount is correct you don't need a sight.

Really. I've adapted my bead especially for shooting Geese on Moon light nights when there's no cloud cover eg Star light.

Hard to explain but anyone who has done enough of this type of Shooting will/would know you lose the end of your barrels/barrel so proper Gun mount has nothing to do with why i use a illuminated Beads

Some of my guns i can shoot without checking my rib eye alignment, my semi auto isn't one of them as it only gets used on wildfowl and crows with some pigeon shooting in summer if i have time.

On a new game gun for my son and me to use when i feel like a change with no bead it didnt pose a problem untill full dark no cloud and shooting a teal target, pulled through pulled trigger and didn,t have a clue where the end of the gun was in relation to the clay. Tried a few times and struggled so bead on from now on for the dark. Then thought tritium light for wildfowling auto. i can choose to check the bead to my eye or not. Rather than cant see it so tough, when your opertunities are few and far between on the marsh i don,t like another thing to stop me bagging one.

Think if i use a slightly bigger 2.5mm hole and clear silicon to fix it in it will give it a bit of room for any expansion and shock absorbtion, this might stop it going pop.
