Sir_Adam
Can anyone on here replicate a plate with edges if I give them one to copy? We have a boat and it only came with one seat but it's an American boat and I've found plates but I'm not 100% if it's the right one. Don't really want to buy it and get it shipped because if it is I'm stuck with something no one else will want to have. Didn't know if any of you fine gentlemen worked with it or could recommend anyone that does? Thanks, adam

TIGHTCHOKE
Are you sure it is aluminium or could it duraluminium?
Sir_Adam
Honestly I have no idea what it's made from. It looks simmilar to this one http://m.ebay.com/itm/401137734442?_mwBanner=1 But I don't want to purchase it as I'm not certain it will be the right one. fortune
The plate is unlikely to be made of aluminium because If it anything to do with boats It is highly likely to come into contact with salt water which will rot it out in no time. The plate is most likely lightweight stainless steel.

That is true but those aluminium parts are not plane ally sheet and are an alloy that is designed to work in that environment and resist corrosion. old'un
Make sure the aluminium you use is corrosion grade alloy 5052 or 6061 Does your exiting plate have flanges like the one in the ebay link? If so it becomes a little more difficult to manufacture, if its just a flat plate with some holes in it will be fairly easy to make. There are plenty of aluminium fabrication businesses in Peterborough or a company I have used, Metal Super Markets in West Bromwich, they used to-do most grades of ally......https://www.metalsupermarkets.co.uk/ Or you could try these people.....http://www.spmetalcraft.com/index.htm Edited December 17, 2016 by old'un
