mossberg-operator
So, my little girl is 8 now, She has been coming to shoot with me to the clay ground. Also took her to rifle shooting this week, first time ever with a Ruger 10/22. Loved it, done really well. Asked me how to have her own certs. Started fishing around for info with my shooting buddies and was told that our local FEO-s don't issue certs if You are under 15. Which I found strange, not in line with legislation, etc. Thoughts? Haven't asked firearm dep yet. Will do. Just asking if anyone heard anything like this before?
Scully
It's not up to your FEO to decide at what age anyone can be granted tickets; they are bound by legislation just the same as anyone else.
Exudate
Not trying to be a party-pooper here, but until she's old enough to shoot unaccompanied, there's probably little value in her having her own certs. She might as well use your guns on your tickets under your supervision. Just a thought! Awesome that she wants to get into it, though. seeker
There's a chart in an appendix at the end of The HO Guidance 2015 .. Link at the top of the forum. Good luck and time to save up.
Doggone
I believe there is a minimum age of fourteen for an fac. Not allowed to shoot one even under supervision. No minimum age for sgc. Andy
mossberg-operator
Thx for info. Checked appendix. No real advantage to have her one yet. She shot at an indoor range, under constant supervision, range master also present.
Terry2016
Hi Mossberg My son has held a license since he was 8, there are no disadvantages to them having their own license. However to shoot on some grounds and in some clubs no matter how old you are or if you are supervised you need your own SGC, also it gives a sense of responsibility to the applicant. I would say apply as long as she is competent in handling a shotgun as this is something that is required. BASC can point out all legislation and prepare you if you choose to apply As above FAC cannot be held until 14.. Good luck whatever you choose and well done for bringing another youngster to the sport Terry Edited December 24, 2016 by Terry2016
