Cartridge Cutting

I bet it wouldn't pass as legal in a test case because you are making physical and material changes to a cartridge to knowingly make it shoot like a single projectile.

Completely agree, the act is for shotgun cartridges and this isn’t an ordinary shotgun cartridge it’s a modified cartridge.

If you look at HO guidance it states.

2.53 A shotgun certificate is not required to possess or acquire shotgun cartridges containing five or more shot, none of which exceeds .36 inch in diameter. All ordinary shot cartridges are covered by this description. However, a shotgun certificate (or firearm certificate authorising possession of a section 1 shotgun) is normally required to purchase shotgun cartridges. All single bulleted ammunition, for example solid slug, spherical ball or projectiles for birdscaring equipment, is subject to the requirement for a firearm certificate.

The fact it isn’t an ordinary shot cartridge and behaves like a solid slug will be your downfall. I know HO guidance is not law but it is what the CPS use and Judges do take it into consideration when interpreting the law.

Given the choice on a side to argue in court I know which side I would go for.

I've watched someone do this to a normal birdshot cartridge and it didnt look like the recoil wasnt increased. The result was same as the video.

Apparently Americans did this in 1930's to shoot deer as people owned shotguns, but couldnt afford a rifle. I suppose if you're putting food on the table for a hungry family...
