.410 carts for Hushpower

Recommended Posts

I tend to shoot Fiocchi 3 inch Mags. I have tried the so called sub sonics .. Eleys ... and really could not hear any difference out of my Mossy. Used some RCs, this season but about every 8th or 9th half the cartridge goes up the bore. Lylevale fibres just don't give me confidence they are doing the same job as Fiocchi. I have shot a few Borgardi (did I spell that correctly?) ..late in this last season and they did the job admirably, also the Clever Mirage performed well, but if I do my bit then the Fiocchi 3 inch mags never fail if I do my bit and put the load in the right place.

Apologies... you mentioned shot size. Italian 8s for partridge and pheasant(UK7s ??) and also a few 6s in the RCs and Clever Mirage, which I think would probably be UK 5s..... it does get very confusing.

With a 410 I have found it is a very good idea to check each brand and shot size on a pattern plate as the narrow shot string and chokings does have a different effect. Find which suits your gun/barrel.

Eley Fourlong 2.5" 12gm carts in 7 shot - through my Baikal Hushpower - sounds no louder than a spring air-rifle.

I do have to be around 20 yards from the intended target to get an effective pattern

I did try several brands and sizes but they all have a 'crack' to the report - even the 6 shot makes a noticeable sound difference.

It did take some checking as I use it in a noise sensitive area, if I take it decoying then 18gm 3" Eleys do the job very well.

I have yet to try the lyevale magnasonic's fibre 5's they say they are good ?.

They are good and a lot quieter than the Eley Subsonic.

Very similar in volume to the little Eley Fourlong 2.5".

The only problem is they only come in 5 shot so you're getting very few pellets in the pattern.

OK at close ranges but then you might as well use 7 shot.

Seems an odd size to pick for them.
