Dash Cam - fitting problems

I have encountered a problem for my dash cam fitting. I wish to fit it up behind the rear view mirror (well, as far as is possible)

My car is a Nissan Qashqai and the screen area in question has a largish area of what looks like a surface of fine mesh plastic gauze. Consequently, the sucker thingy which holds the camera perfectly on a smooth screen will not form a perfect seal on the gauze finish and the camera does not stay in place. The result is the camera is now on the screen where I do not want it to be.

Does anyone know please how to overcome this problem I.e how to form a seal on the gauze area?

Thanks.

I just fitted one last week on my Suzuki Vitara which also has a different sunshield incorporated into the windscreen. The surface of which feels slightly different to the rest of the window , I thought that the sucker may come adrift on our bumpy dales roads but up to press it has stayed in position, even when i remove the unit from the housing.I also used a little moisture on the initial contact.. from Auntie.

I got some about 3" dia plastic discs that have glue on one side you just pull off the paper cover and stick it to your dash the top side of the disc is black shiny plastic that you can fix your cam rubber sucker on to I got them to stick my satnave on to the dash on my X-Trail have a look on ebay they are only a few £ to buy.

Just had a quick look and came up with this.

Thanks for the input.

Spoke with the lads at the local garage. It's an age old problem which dash cam manufacturers avoid referring to when you buy. Most adhesive type strips work until the sun shines on the windscreen and softens the glue then the camera falls off. Some use a thin smear of clear silicon around the edga of the sucker to form a seal - with variable results. The 3m command strips are finding favour.

What I did not know is that a camera fitted within the line of sweep of the windscreen wipers is an MOT failure as it is deemed to obstruct the drivers view. The solution is to remove the camera off the screen before the MOT.

i don't know what sort of cam you have but i had this trouble with a next base cam i had a moan at next base saying their suction pad was rubbish, they then sent me a self advise bracket, well stuck now! new bracket is more discrete too ... bonus. wonder why they don't supply these as standard so user has the option.

Having read this I followed your advice contacted Next Base. They are sending me out and appropriate fix!! I agree, It really should be standard as the add on cost would be negligible.
