HW95J
I've been considering getting into home loading for .410 not just in the hope of saving some money but because it's fairly difficult to get fibre wad loads. Looking into the costs etc the highest seems to be the powder(?) Maths was never my strong point so maybe I'm missing something but a 1lb tub of powder is appx £40 and it's not going to fill all that many rounds... motty
You would get a lot of rounds for the .410 per lb of powder.

HW95J
Responded to PM, Thanks. There seems to be a big variation between brands in terms of price. Is there a difference in performance or are some bands just import and therefore higher cost?
SPARKIE
lil gun about £40 a lb.... will do a lot of .410 carts.
HW95J
Got to the bottom of this one. I was, as suspected, being a complete tool. I converted 15grain from load data to grams online earlier and somehow got a result of 7g. I try now and get 0.97g...I was thinking 7g sounded more than a little on the warm side but got the same result a couple of times. Now I need to work out how I typed the same thing into google and got such different results.
Guest cookoff013
errr........ maybe you should find someone local to help set yourself up?
spandit
It is a bit confusing when grains and grammes often have the same abbreviation but you probably wouldn't get through that much powder loading at 7 grammes - because you'd be dead

You are getting mixed up between grams and grains. 1 pound = 7000 grains so approx 10grains of powder = 700 cartridges. If you work in grams, there are approximately 453.6 to the pound. The 410 is a high pressure load so be careful or you will end up with a big problem. Get help and make sure that you know what you are doing. HW95J
Yes, it was probably a confusion when using shorted version of grain/gram or similar. I knew I was doing something wrong hence I posted, the help is much appreciated. I'll be doing a good deal of research and getting a decent loading book etc before going near it!
