Royboy
After a boaring afternoon pigeoning this aft I was noticing a lot more blood, I've been asked to get a few pigeons for hawks so I was using steel, does steel make pigeons bleed more or is it just me ?? I noticed a lot more stock doves today as well, more than I have for a long time
Tim Kelly
I mentioned the same sort of thing a couple of weeks ago. Apparently we are doing it wrong. LOL
Royboy
🙈 Don't get me wrong these birds where dead in the air, I might be in for a telling off then
Catamong
You are dead right, the birds will lose a lot more blood, particularly if you are using shot size 5 or above, as this heavier shot goes straight through them. I now use a Gamebore Black Gold 28g in 7.5, a superb load for birds over decoys. Cat.
Wilksy II
If there heart is still pumping even for a short spell after being shot and you've hit an artery, like in there wing pit they bleed a lot!
Westley
I was using some 24 gram steel 7's that I bought (off here) in 20 bore. Can not say I noticed any difference in either kills or excessive bleeding. Oh, and YES, I too have noticed an increase in Stock Dove numbers, where I am shooting. motty
Shot 286 on barley stubble last summer using mostly 32gm steel 4. A very capable cartridge, with no excessive bleeding noticed. I shall be shooting a few pigeons with steel again this year.
