djgeoff
hi all i am sure some one this forum will know this, i have what appears to be a minor oil leak. i have a 2.5 td shogun equippe 2004 chap spotted it yesterday during m o t, so this morning i got car on ramps dropped steel under plate off so i could look up at leak. i think leak may have been coming from underside of filter, no sure yet. i did manged to nip the filter up a bit more then done my best to wash area down so i can keep eye on it(damp awkward spot). but i was wondering what the item is with wire on it, my first thought was oil pressure sensor, but manual shows it lower down towards the sump, but there i have like an elbow type thing coming out (no electrical connections) you can see that item in image your help would be most appreciative regards geoff Edited February 26, 2017 by djgeoff
figgy
Best to put some degreaser on your engine and power wash it off then run your engine to see exactly where your oil leak is. That looks like it's been leaking a long time.

Me matt
Yes- clearly a pressure switch of some sort. Sod's law they are always in such an awful location 😕 As you've cleaned it off- just keep an eye on it, those type of things can take months to create a single oil drop on a driveway. Unless your losing a fair amount of oil I would leave it.
Wymondley
It's an oil pressure switch and the likely cause of a leak. Blast it off with some brake cleaner and run the engine to confirm.
