aga man
After a failed start on some rape on Friday afternoon and failing to find any decent lines all week i was a bit fed up this morning. The wind was perfect and after a few hours the wife told me to go out shooting as she said i was pacing up and down and starting to irritate her. I had no where definate to go but i was off for a look anyway! Some fresh barley drilling had a good few corvids on & some stock doves but no pigeons. i decided to have a go at the corvids but with no dead crows i set out my two plastic crow decoys. As always the rooks and crows were smarter than me would not come in range. Eventually a young rook foolishly came for a look and was shot. The shot lifted around 300 pigeons of some clover in a neighbouring horse field. [ i can't shoot there for obvious reasons ]. During the next hour i shot 2 more rooks and endured heavy shower after heavy shower. The pigeons seemed to following a belt of trees to a small spinney near some rape and then back alond the tree line to the clover. Before too long i had packed up and was sat up in the tree line with a bag of cartridges. With the strong wind the flighting pigeons gave me some great sport. I was using my old faithful 30 year old Bettinsoli which i have brought out of retirement for springtime decoying as my trap gun is a bit too much for decoying. The pigeons were not particularly high but gave every shot in the book and as the rain clouds once again loomed at 4pm i called it a day with 22 pigeons and three rooks which was very enjoyable. On my journey home i saw pigeons on clover every where i looked. Thanks for reading. Edited March 19, 2017 by aga man

pigeon controller
Fantastic report and result, well done to your wife for sending you out. As you say clover is the crop they seem to be on before the buds come out. Again well done.
