Got my DVSA letter this morning " EA 189 NOx emissions service action on your vehicle " the vehicle mentioned is a 2009 VW Tiguan 2.0SE tdi auto, had a quick look on the net, and there's a certain amount of complaints after having this work done, i.e low speed rattle, and pinking, etc. Just spent a lot of money on this car, particular filter etc, In two minds if too book it in and hope for the best, or give it a miss, till the dreaded MOT is due again. Has it seems once any problems arise VW wont take any action to resolve them once the work is done.

Your car will still pass the MOT without the mods', NOx isn't tested.

The diesel test is only for particulates (the black soot), most cars with a functioning DPF don't even register on the meter, they're that clean.

Any future changes to the test wont be retrospective either.

If your cars been running happily since 2009 leave it alone.

Whatever changes VW have come up with, they've been done in a panic, not for your benefit but to save their r's.

I have an Audi, I didn’t take it for the updates either, no letter from the DVLA as of yet too!!

My logic, if they could have made a car that ran well and met the emissions criteria with no detrimental effects they would of done it in the first place!!

Until I get some compensation I’m buying BMW from now on too

Do you think compensation is on the cards?
