Mark74
After being mistakenly reported earlier in week it's sad to read that Brian passed away today aged 88. Not sure about you chaps but spent many happy Saturday mornings listen to Sounds Of Sixties whether on way to shooting or whatever. Brian had a such warm voice coming through the radio. Thank you for for reminding me of listening to dads old 45 collection with him when I was a boy. RIP sir
Scully
Out iof the shooting season I spend most Saturdays sat painting at my easel. I liked his voice and have missed it since he stopped presenting. Tim Rice was good, but I'll miss Brian Matthews. figgy
His one one of the warmest richest voices I've heard. Could listen to him for hours, his anecdotes and knowledge remembering playing with this group and that band etc. Sunday morning driving to clay shoots will not be the same. wandringstar
that's a shame, it was an almost iconic voice, I listened to it over the years but not for the last few. r.i.p.
Gordon R
He had a voice which was very easy on your ears. Contrast that with Chris Evans and realise Brian was streets ahead.
Fuddster
Do you know what-as a longtime R2 listener-I really enjoyed his programmes-a really affable Gent who played steady away music. He had a really personable touch to broadcasting commensurate with his age and years of service. He always signed off by announcing he needed to let his dog out. 'cheers just now'. f.
