wymberley
Just my luck! I don't do clays so don't have much idea about cartridges, but have a short term need of some for a specific purpose - although it could have been ongoing for someone I'm helping out. I found the Subject ones, read some reviews, albeit for the 24g version, but as I'm talking open choked game guns, I figured that the extra 4g wouldn't change things too much and would top up the more open pattern Express has a new web-site. Once you twig that to get the full spec' you need to click on the box and not 'quick view', I think it's much better than their last effort. However, it would appear from it that these cartridges are discontinued, being replaced by Super Lights except there's now no 28g version. I found a local outlet that still had a few - at the old price - so quickly grabbed them before they too disappeared. I appreciate that I've put the cart before the horse for the reason given, but is the PW opinion the same as the reviews that I've read which says that these are very mild in recoil? I'm talking the slightly slower fibre version. Many thanks.

wymberley
Try Rio target load no8 shot 23/4" 28g fibre wad good cartridge for sporting clays Bit of a problem in a 2&1/2" chamber though - which to be fair I didn't mention. Mr.C
I use CompX fibers for a genuine 65mm fiber cart and find them very soft but effective on clays
HW95J
Tried these in both 21 and 24g (P/W) purchased at clay ground- I found them to be one of the softest cartridges I've ever tried. They somehow didn't feel like amazing quality though, I seem to remember the hull being quite thin with shot sort of pushing through the plastic etc, noticeably more than usual. However they worked just fine for clays so no complaints there!

Had another look at them and there's no sign of the problem you mentioned.

Does any of that make any difference? As long as they go bang and the clays break.
buze
I shoot 28g CompX pretty exclusively, and apart from the odd dud, they are very nice. They can be a bit 'dirty' when shot (bits of fiber wad float around sometime) but they are consistent, and very soft. They still break far clays without any problem. In fact even the 21g will break pretty much anything I shot it at... I did a comparison fairly recently (Velocity, Superfast, Pro Ones (two kind) and a RIO), and I came back to CompX afterward. figgy
Nothing wrong with the express carts you bought, they are smoother than the English Sporters so should be ok in a SxS.
