Southfields
How many ton of pellet would you order for 800 pheasant & 450 duck bearing in mind we want go get them over to wheat as soon as we can. Cheers
Tadorna
Don't get onto wheat too soon. It has no way near enough nutritional value. Use grower then release feed and remember withdrawal period. 1.5 to 2 ton initially. Edited May 17, 2017 by Tadorna
TIDES EDGE
Get the duck onto wheat after 2/3 days you dont want to be feeding them pellet to long the way they shovel it down 2 tonne will then be about right.
Walker570
MEDICATION. Most important, cost extra I know, but pays off in the end. You want good results? You cannot do it on the cheap I'm afraid.
pg123
We used 450 kg including some medicated for 350 poults last season. We don't feed duck on pellets as it's far too expensive. Their greedy and quickly adapt to wheat or barley.
Paul223
Rolled barley for the duck! Plus any potato or veg peelings! About 12 bags of pellet per week until 14 weeks old for the pheasant, try to get them on wheat earlier and they will march off in droves, if they go ill may be longer. Personally I don't bother with the lower % protein release pellet, just start to add handfuls of both wheat and milled wheat per bag of pellet from about week 11 so they get used to it. Then change over 1/3 of feeders to wheat and milled wheat with handfuls of pellet from about week 14. You'll know when the birds are ready by watching their eating. TIDES EDGE
Ducks will eat about 20 ton if you let them. Just seen a post on another site a chap has 20,000 being delivered tomorrow I would not want the feed bill for that lot.
