henry d
Standby for more calls for a ban on any type of weapon http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/kent/6740007.stm
flash
i place bets on a chair leg, although SO19(i think thats the right name), have special training they still seem more gun hoe then the yanks. and how come in a conflict situation ther army, RAF etc cant fire unless shot at first, whereas the fuzz seem to be aloud to shoot anyone carrying something. seems odd to me. cheers flash
Bradders
HD, I agree that there will be the inevitable call to restrict ownership further. Very limited information has been made public. Will be interesting what type of weapon it was. The news report say a firearm has been recovered. If the weapon was held legally then the story will run and run, if she held it illegally then it will be out of the news in a day or two. My thoughts today go out to the family, friends and colleagues of the Policeman stabbed in Luton this morning when he went to the aid of two others (members of the public) who had been stabbed whilst withdrawing money from an ATM. If he had been armed then that outcome could well have been very different.
dunganick
not good, this woke me up this morning (or the helicopters did) its a little close to home this one, less than half a mile from my house and pretty much next to the pub i was intending on going for a drink at last night had i not been seeing the girlfriend. Just hope this turns out to be yet another illegal gun and not a legally held firearm being put to bad use. At least an armed police officer had the confidence to make the call, i bet following the case on the underground making that sort of call is the last thing any of them want to do. Mungler
Wait for the "news" and I use that term in the liberal sense. It was reported in the Times the other day that the firearms dealer from Kent (the Elvis look a like) had in excess of 500 firearms at his home. Now, the case is still going on and there are reporting restrictions, but the images I saw looked like the home of a messy dealer - lots of airguns and muskets etc. Nothing any self respecting Yardie would want to take to a party. And why did he leave them strewn about his home and propped up against door frames instead of broken down and submerged in a water tank in the loft or hidden away in a false floor or two. Load of old cock. Lets see what this "firearm" is that has been recovered. Place your bets - I am giving evens on - starting pistol, cap gun, crappy .177 air pistol, CO2 bb gun, paint ball gun, cigarette lighter.... digger
Point is armed response usually give more than enough warnings, if the person they are directed at fails to respond then I cant see they have any option. I sure as hell would not take the job they have as they are damned if they pull the trigger and damned if they dont. If it was a gat gun or a 9mm the officer wasnt to know, she failed to comply with instructions and the officer involved had only one choice to make, in my opinion he made the right one. One less loon on the streets and one more " gun statistic "

Gully
The IPCC said a firearm was recovered at the scene, but would not comment further on exactly what it was. However, a police officer was seen carrying what looked like a cartridge of plastic toy gun pellets in a transparent evidence bag away from the scene yesterday. The small ball-shaped pellets are commonly used in guns known as BB guns, which are often extremely realistic.
LEFTY478
THE SUN says; Another source revealed: “She was seen with a gun in the High Street. Police told her to put the gun down, but she refused and looked like she was going to fire.†BB guns, which fire projectiles rather than bullets, can be bought for £25. They are usually used for hunting birds but can cause serious injury to humans. BB Airsoft pistol? Good to see that they didn't waste any valuable time on factual reporting
Gully
The Evening Standard has it that she was a nutter and this was 'suicide by cop'. Nice. I know a few train drivers who are screwed up by people jumping in front of their trains. I don't think I'd be that bothered

I know a few train drivers who are screwed up by people jumping in front of their trains. I don't think I'd be that bothered it is sounding like this is the case. I don't think anyone will jump down on legal guns after this it was a woman with presumably mental health issues who basically made the police shoot her. Sadly our locals used a tazer and baton rounds on the guy in Luton who killed an officer yesterday, a real shame he wasn't the one who got shot.
