Sean Richo
If a permission is rated for .22lr is it ok to use .17hmr on this ground am getting lots of mixed opinions.
Ultrastu
I would check .but the general consensus is .17 hmr is lower in the danger levels than .22 lr . That's what my feo said
Walker570
Ask your FEO.
Whitebridges
IMHO I'd think about the safety issues for every shot you chose to take. Know your ground and the backstops. Do not take shots that present any risk. This way it makes no difference whether you are using a rimfire, centrefire , air rifle or a bloody pop gun. With this bare in mind that back stops will be different for each calibre though. As for your question the best person to ask is your feo. We can only give opinions here. Nobody here can give you a definitive answer, and frankly there probably isn't one, some land that is fine for .22 will be fine for HMR, some won't, for whatever reason. Ask your Region/FEO....... or get an Open FAC!!
