It really all comes down to good communication which is a two way thing.

Speak to the office politely, tell them you are keen to not cause them any more work like issuing section 7s or extra visits and paperwork.

Oh and chocolate hobnobs are the best biscuits to get FEOs to carry out home visits! :good:

Shotgun certificate runs out in just over a week, sent of the renewal in plenty of time and nothing. Have they made no progress in the last 5 years then.

Good luck I'm also with Hampshire, they refused to issue a section 7 and I had to lodge my guns on a mates certificate until mine got reissued, and it took them a fair old time for that.

Crazy thing is I live a Mile from the Surrey border, and Surrey generally turn certs out within 2 weeks,go figure lol

I believe some forces only give s7's if you sent your renewal in when they asked for it, and they failed to process it in their time frame. Send it in late no s7

That's about the size of it,and don't forget if you have no one willing to lodge guns on their cert, you will have to lodge with an RFD and pay storage charges.

We all live and learn, next renewal will go in a couple of months before run out of old cert, and I will send recorded so I have a signature.

I sent in plenty of time last renewal but they had moved address without informing me lol,so my paperwork got returned to sender a couple of weeks before cert expiry.

Yes I should have checked the address was still the same, but you'd have thought they might have informed cert holders lol

I believe that you need to give them a minimum of eight weeks. Then it’s up to them to process new certificates before the old ones expire. If not, they should then issue a section 7. I could be wrong though.

The latest legislation, see the Policing and Crime Act 2017,allows a certificate holder, if they applied in the time frame you state above, to continue to possess their firearms legally for 8 weeks after expiry without the need for a S7 permit.
