Me matt
Not so sure I'd trust an online agency, surely just selling your info to the highest bidder. Can you not find a BMW trained/approved independent garage? We did for our car this year and saved 65% of dealers quote.
Davyo
Its not 'Service Stop' by any chance? Watch Watch Dog! LowStandards
ECP puts an air filter, oil filter, fuel filter and oil at a smidge under £90. And that’s just the first place I looked Surely a no brainer to do it on the driveway?

LowStandards
If its out of warranty Pretty sure they can’t enforce this type of thing anymore?
LowStandards
I just checked EU Block Exemption laws let customers get cars serviced outside dealer networks without invalidating their warranty. But manufacturer service schedules must be followed and original equipment parts used. Unsure if oe parts mean they must come from the dealer mind. It seems unlikely and unenforceable Another reason to not buy new I guess
silver pigeon69
Pretty sure they can’t enforce this type of thing anymore? I think your partly right, i dont think they can make you use an "authorised" BMW dealer etc anymore, but i still think it has to be done by a qualified mechanic? i'm sure someone will put us straight! LowStandards
What is a qualified mechanic? Is there some sort of course or test? As far as I read it, anyone can do your service, some warranties may have a clause about oe parts, but if that’s enforceable in law is another thing. We’ve gone off topic a bit
silver pigeon69
When i did it 30+ yrs ago (not a grease monkey anymore!!) there was a BTec, HND, HNC in "Motor vehicle, mechanical engineering". The BTec was not a hard course and most of the people on it could not spell "Mechanic"!
gustaff
we are independant bmw specialists in scarborough area we can service bmw cars inside warranty periods as long as we use original spec parts. so not to jeapodise the warranty. bearing in mind bmw do not make any filters majority of filters are mann or knetch which are readily available from factors.i have had the argument from bmw parts reps trying to sell us oe filters and when taken out of bmw box they have a mann part number on them six quid dearer for same filter only differance is the box which i throw away. Davyo
You can take a brand new car anywhere to be serviced.Garage just has to used genuine parts and importantly be VAT registered. However some 2nd hand cars depending where purchased have 'life time' warranties. For example Stoneacre 2nd hand car warranty actually ties you to the actual dealership you bought the car from for servicing.I believe Evans (should be wearing a mask) Halshaw like wise. Hendrix's rifle
Providing the garage is vat registered and the parts used are oe or oe equivalent then crack on. Just follow the service schedule and make sure you get your book stamped. Doesn't matter if it's a Citroen or a maserati, that's how it is. we are independant bmw specialists in scarborough area we can service bmw cars inside warranty periods as long as we use original spec parts. so not to jeapodise the warranty. bearing in mind bmw do not make any filters majority of filters are mann or knetch which are readily available from factors.i have had the argument from bmw parts reps trying to sell us oe filters and when taken out of bmw box they have a mann part number on them six quid dearer for same filter only differance is the box which i throw away. Think there using mahle now aswell, I had that argument not long ago with a rep your a better man than I working on bmws day in day out
