I used to be able to put pictures up, but have tried several times recently and failed.

If you search for "sauer keeper package" deal , that's the rifle, it has a 1 in 10 twist on a 20 inch barrel. I've put a 3 - 10 X 50 non parallax adjustment, and keep it on 7x, Hawke nitesite. The mod is a Dpt.

Will be putting a photon on eventually, both on qd mounts on a picatinny rail.

Zeroed at 50 yds with 55g fmj Winchester, then tried 50g v max Sako arrowhead, then 53g Normandy v max. All went inside 1 inch.

Took it out to 100 yds, opened up a little, then out to 150 yds  and dropped about 1 1/2 inches. All would be a kill.

Going to try some 40g out of curiosity then decide on final choice.

I'm with the 243 suggestion too. Very versatile caliber and shoots everything from 50gn to 90gn comfortably, 100gn not so much as these are often on the edge of the rifles ability. Minimal recoil too.

However, 223 for keepering is a good call, you'll mainly be vermin or foxing with it, cartridges are keenly priced and readily available but the biggest benefit will be the flat trajectory so you can almost forget about holdover as long as you keep it sensible.

Sauer's are nice rifles too, good choice.
