B725
Has anyone tried to repair ni-cad batteries using the welder I have been looking on the net and it does appear to work. I am going to have a go tomorrow
haynes
Seems good at first but when I did it but it only lasted 2-3 charges then they died again and again and then went in the bin. Tried it on some dewalt batteries so not rubbish.
B725
Do you turn the amp's down to say 20 or so?
Gordon R
I did a couple successfully, but the next three went pop. Little spark inside and only ready for the bin.

JohnfromUK
Cover the battery with something (e.g. old rag or cloth) when trying anything like this. In the event that it bursts it prevents them spraying around, the chemicals are not nice and don't get them in your eyes especially.
arjimlad
I bought non-Makita replacement NiMh batteries for a Makita drill set & they were surprisingly cost-effective if that is any help.
rovercoupe
I had one nimh explode in the charger and would not like to be anywhere near it, it was like a 12 bore going off!
