ditchman
i rekon that is fairly close to the original design of the Bowie...which was before the time of Bowie....some say it was a design that was copied by Bowie from what Spanish sailors used to carry................. getthegat
My dad had a Sunday roast carving knife with a handle like that. Great looking bit of kit there. I have to admit to a slight almost fetish for knives
bigman
Thanks guys , some say the original Bowie was a carving knife of sorts that's the magic of the Bowie nobody can prove what it was ment to look like there's plenty of interpretation

It's a good knife steel I prefere carbon steel to stainless o1 when heat treated correctly can get very sharp and be very tough and it's much easyier to heat treat than the other fancy steels that cost a fortune

Walker570
As above. I'm no expert metallurgist, I just do what other people tell me, but O1 has always been kind. Easy to work and what knives I have made have been sharp enough for me..... NAH!! No PHOTO... don't want to have ditchy fainting again True, that knife would be a great carving knife. Bound to become a talking point at any dinner party. .....errrr well yes, my greatgreat grandfather relieved it's possesor when raiding a Spanish galleon ...imagine the friends faces at the table.
