Farmboy91
Has anyone got any experience homeloading/ refilling the brass carts? All I can find locally are no.10 double charge RWS's and I'd like something heavier, I have got a load of steel 3's but not sure if they would be too big. Any ideas welcome. Thanks all. I'd read somewhere about emptying the shot refilling and coving with a smear of silicon, that's the lines I was thinking along.

Well I guess that would work, but I know nothing about steel but many on here do. Would say that you will not get many 3's in a 9mm Flobert so the pattern would be, well none existent really! I had one many years ago and Fiocchi with 7 1/2 were ok. Just cartridges have Fiocchi 6's for £84.75 for 250 plus carriage. http://www.justcartridges.com/images/pdfs/FI.pdf?date=2018-02-
Farmboy91
Thanks for the link, that's alot cheaper than what I'm paying per box now but I think 250 would last a lifetime lol. The gun is only used indoors at 10 yards or less and then it's always rifle shot, the gun is a bit light for ferals on the wing. Just trying to make the hardest hitting cart possible. bruno22rf
We used to tip the shot out (think it was no9 or smaller?) and refill with no6 from stripped down 12g shells for shooting Rats in a barn - as already mentioned a thin smear of silicone sealant across the top was all we used to retain the shot. BTW - RF cartridges can be reloaded and the Americans seem to do it but getting the equipment in the UK is highly unlikely.
inthedark
Size 3 shot is about 6mm, so you'd maybe get 2 in. Best to go for a single 00, that should hit fairly hard. A decent air rifle might be a safer way to go
AYA117
less than 6 projectiles and remember it then becomes a section 1 firearm, not than anyone will ever know .

Farmboy91
Yeah I've got to keep it legal, wouldn't take the chance. The other bloke who shoots on site uses a sub 12 pre charge, we both get similar bags but truth be told I just love the garden gun + my cart costs are covered. sportsbob
There`s a few youtube videos where several people double load the powder and wax the shot so I would guess the typical garden gun is very lightly stressed by design although I`m not advocating doing such things. Farmboy91
This was the pattern at a generous 10 metres, 21 out of 26 seems like a decent pigeon stopper.
Continental Shooter
We used it to shoot rats and other things back in the days but used lead #11 for bigger quarry #7 was good for feral and doves and if you master it, at the right distance, even on the wings We used SIPE powder and cork as a wad and for the closing. to keep it tight we used wax (as it breks upon firing unlike silicone) and if the load was weak....a bit of mud on top would do the trick

As I'm at home in the snow I'm gonna load some 6's and 5's lead see how they pattern.

Instead of the yellow pages get a few copies of the labour party election manifesto, it should be easy to shoot holes in those and you could wipe your **** on them afterwards.
