fiiish1987
Wen't to pub quiz last night. I could see the quizmaster! Also, we could talk easily without the background noise of fans churning! I'm loving it. the only issue was that they had a 5min break after every two rouonds for "fag breaks" long live the ban!

Dr W
Had a lovely couple of last fags in my local on Saturday night, made a special trip just to enjoy the lastr chance to smoke in a pub before the ban came in. Those were my last fags and started on cold turkey on Sunday, have to say that I think my weight may suffer as I've already had 3 chocolate hob nobs with my brews to help with the cravings. Anyway since it was pubs that always got me started again I think the ban should really help me stop. I for one think it is a good think even though I will miss it. Dunkield
I went to lunch with a few folks from work a while ago, one of the smokers said "I hope you are not going to eat while I am smoking" when my food turned up Or local banned it last week as they have just had a re-fit and it is nicer to be able to go out and just come back smelling of beer I must say. Vegeta
one downside is letting big dirty farts rip and not having the smoke to cover the smell
starlight32
If you like being dictated to by this police state then so be it. There is a need for restrictions on smoking in public area's, but alternative measures should be put in place to allow designated areas as there always has been- i.e- If you are a non-smoker don't go into a designated smoking area if you do't like the smell of smoke All the smoking areas are open to the elements now just because of this issue- In time businesses will suffer -you can be sure of that. Madcowz
If you like being dictated to by this police state then so be it. I'm sorry do you think it is a police state just because there is a rule to stop smokers from making places stink? I just want to be able to go out and enjoy some beer/food/chat without coming home stinking of smoke. Best thing to happen for a long time. /Mad
Dunkield
In time businesses will suffer -you can be sure of that. They haven't in Scotland or Ireland, why should they in England?
codling99
apparently ,pubs are doing more trade now ,cos people are going to pubs now that wouldnt go before cos of the stale smell of fags .
starlight32
Its all debate- New York suffered business wise and thats fact. Its a dictatoral state now this country as far as I am concerned, we are all not as free as you think. You could say the rights of smokers are being infringed could'nt you? You could also say the Line in the American constitution 'Right to bear arms' creates a similar threat in public places? But they are not moaning about that are they? End of the day my opinion is that yes smoking should be segregrated from non smoking people even if they are not adverse to it- But what I don't like is the lack of designated smoking places which have been provided and the ones that are in place are total rubbish! WeihrauchPower
The same smoking ban came into effect here in VIC, Australia yesterday! Only place that is exempt are certain places in the Crown Casino in Melbourne! Funny that hey! Was there a bribe involved, couldn't possibly be!
