eastlincs
I’ve got some moulder cens ear plugs got them a few years ago now but when I was out clay shooting last night they didn’t seem to be stopping much noise. It got to the point when I wasn’t shooting I was covering my ears by the end because I knew the bang wasn’t being reduced much. They still fit in properly and feel snug. There not the electronic ones, anybody else had this issue?
figgy
The cens passive modules don’t have a active valve but step down in increments inside to reduce the noise waves gradually until only a small amount of noise waves pass through, so should never stop working properly. Walker570
Yep, get them serviced and wait for the bill. I have them and sent them in for service as suggested and got a bill for £70. Not impressed with their customer relattions either.

The only thing I can think of is that they don't fit properly any more. I have had my Emtecs (similar to Cens passives) for over 30 years and they still fit fine, but I guess fit could change, especially if you have lost or gained weight. I would not be paying someone to 'service' passives as all they can do is clean them. Edited June 24, 2018 by JohnfromUK
figgy
Just give them a wash in like warm water and gently blow through them. See if they work any better. I looked online but can’t find the info on the cens passive where it shows the steps inside them and the sound waves getting stoped at each step as it gets smaller until you get a single line that goes through so you hear only a little at a safe level. eastlincs
Il give them a good clean and take them out again next week see if there’s any difference. If not il got back to the shop with them, like you say maybe they don’t fit right anymore.
Yellow Bear
I know it sounds silly and I have my tin hat on to be shot down, but give them a slight suck before you put them in, A) it helps insertion B) it forms a small seal in the contact areas which helps attenuation. I was told this when I bought them and it seems to work for me.
BSA-airgunner
the passive inserts are less that a tenner each to buy...maybe you need a new set of moulds done.
