- Tikka T3x Lite Stainless with factory threaded 20 inch barrel in 7mm08
- DPT Suppressor with stainless steel baffle
- Leupold VX-1 3-9 x 40mm Scope
- Talley Extra Low Lightweight Rings

It's a nuts and bolts setup. The stock on the Tikka is soulless, but that's OK and there is no doubt that despite being a fine product, the suppressor alters the balance of the gun. Otherwise, very happy! I like the extra "lowness" of the Talley rings.

I'll use it mainly for goat hunting. Overkill you might say, but it will also be my deer gun when I get the opportunity.

It is impossible to 'OVERKILL' something.  The 7-08 is a super cartridge and in my view perfect for shooting those goats.  Your right on the ring height too. It is not always about the room for the scope but also just how you personally sight the rifle.  Had the pleasure of being shown around Dave Talley's workshop back in '86 and his products are quality, good choice.

I was in NZ in '91 and had a tahr and a chamois out of the McCauley Valley (Waterfall Hut) ....stunning country.

I spent around 2 years with my T3 Lite Stainless getting some balance into it, chopped the barrel, had 2 or 3 scopes and rings changes, different mods and eventually stuck some lead in the rear stock, brilliant now but what a load of malarkey.  :good:
