Walker570
I have wondered for some time how I can make a vaccuum chamber to put the stabilising fluid in along with pieces of wood and form a vaccuum to suck the fluid into the wood. Solved it today ...I think!! The 10yr old food vaccuum packer I had packed in this week and we purchased a new one. Never one to just throw things, I took the old one apart for whatver I could use in the future. screws washers brackets ..and then POW!!! came that realisation that within this unit was a vaccuum pump. Short story, I extracted it and found it was a 15v DC model and tried it on my golf cart pigeon flapper battery(12 v) and it works a treat. Now for the chamber. I have a number of Kilner style jars so will initially see if I can put a tube in the lid of one of those. with a form of shut off tap to retain the vaccuum. The moral to this story ...never throw anything away before you take a close look for things you can use.
Dougy
I bet I've got something similar in my shed somewhere. Never throw anything away, you never know when you might need it. But I must get out of this hoarding habit I couldn't see my reloading bench the other day.

peck
What are you using the stabilised wood for, knife scales or pen blanks?
